What Brussels sprouts?

The Nordstrom Family Table Cookbook is gorgeous and it is book number 4 in my #turnthecookbook adventure. It’s where I cook at least two recipes from each of my cookbooks I own. I have over 60 and just added 5 more 🥴

What was great about tonight’s meal is that I was able to cook both recipes on one night and serve them as a full meal. We will talk about those in a minute.

First let’s talk about the book.

I am a big fan of pictures in cookbooks. Actually I will completely skip past a cookbook if it doesn’t have pictures. I know, I am like a toddler when it comes to that. What is even the point if there are not at least a few things to look at? But back to this cookbook, the photography in it is exactly what I love and out of the 235 pages about half of them are pictures. I get to see what the food is supposed to look like when finished. This is a huge help for my visually learning self. 🤓

When I get a new cookbook I go though it and make my own index. I write the recipes I am interesting in trying at the front of the book. So many of them look amazing but I only make down ones that I think will interest my 5 children and husband and will be pretty simple to make.

Tonight for dinner I made the Grilled Rib-Eye Steaks with Chipotle lime butter and served them with the Gratineed Brussels Sprouts. The chipotle lime butter was spicier than expected. This means I now basically have an entire stick of the fancy-made butter to use up. The Brussels sprouts have only one choice and that was to be awesome. They had heavy cream, prosciutto, and gruyere cheese mixed in. Right?? Delicious.

Even though I am done with this book based on my goal of two recipes per book, I am definitely coming back to it for things like the Homemade Fresh Egg pasta. The grilled Mediterranean chicken with lemon herb marinade (pic above) and the New Orleans chicken and Andouille Étouffée are also seriously calling my name.

My next cookbook is a newer one and full of just recipes for Dutch ovens. This is perfect because I just got a gorgeous 6 qt oval cherry from World Market for 50% off.
