Halloweens of the past

I had a great childhood and have many favorite memories of the holidays. I grew up near lots of family and so all of these holidays included cousins. That is what made it so wonderful, being around loving family and the traditions that come with that.

For Halloween each year we would go to my grandma’s houses and go door to door down the dead end road. One house gave us a full soda while another house gave us a full candy bar. It was what dreams are made of. It was safe, tons of fun, and we got lots of candy.

One year though we traveled up north. I believe we were visiting my aunt. We were all set to go trick or treating in this new neighborhood and it went and had to rain. We were in luck though. The house we stayed at had one of those saloon type doors and we pretended to go house to house right there in that space. We got to receive candy and show off our costumes to our family who “opened” the door. I am not sure what it was about that particular Halloween that made it so special. It could have something to do with them telling us that Michael Jackson lived down the road. Well, whatever it was, it’s still one of my favorite memories.

What memories do you have about this holiday? Did you have traditions and do you still try to keep them as an adult?

Here is some pictures from years past. Enjoy. One of them is not from Halloween. Can you guess which one? 😉

Great memories. My favorite was the one where we had the scary path to the river and your friends came over.
