A while back I was thinking about the awesomeness of how this one light bulb works in the basement.
Without it, there is no chance I would ever go In the pitch dark to get something.
I’m not saying I am scared of the dark…….I just don’t like the dark. This light bulb reminded me of how there are some people who are like the light in the basement. What I mean is they are the only ones in their jobs who_______(full in the blank), or they are the only ones in their family who______, or what about…..they are the only ones traveling to that country to talk about Jesus, or they are the only ones speaking out or taking a stand for what they believe. Being the only one doing something or being somewhere alone can be scary. Being the first to pave the path or rock the boat might scare the crap out of you. Do not stop though. Do not stop because you are alone or because it scares you to pieces. You are without a doubt being a light in the basement, if we can so quickly refer back to the picture. You are making it easier for the person following behind you because your light is shedding some light on their steps too.
Let me end with some amazing advice my daughter told me about a year ago. She was 9 at the time. “If you hit some spider webs on your path today it means you are blazing a new trail. If your path was clear it means you are simply following in someone else’s footsteps.” -ava and mommy. Real lesson for real life 😉 .
